After smoking my first Tatuaje Nicaragua 7ths a couple of weeks ago, I was itching to get more. Those Naturals were so incredibly good, I knew I had to make them part of my regular rotation. But then I discovered that the blend also came in a Connecticut broadleaf version.
I have become a sucker for Connecticut broadleaf cigars. I love the sweetness of the smoke and the depth of flavor that the broadleaf provides. And with this cigar, at least to me, it takes the blend up another notch.
The light spiciness of the Natural it’s been replaced with the sweetness of the Broadleaf. In fact, there is very little spiciness throughout the smoke. You get a hint of spice in the last third but for the most part, the cigar is as smooth as can be.
My wife was calling me to put away some food and do a few little chores but I just couldn’t put the cigar down. It wasn’t so much defiance as it was so thoroughly enjoying myself that nothing else mattered.
While I was smoking this stick it reminded me of the reaction that I often get with AJ Fernandez cigars and all the other Tatuaje sticks I’ve smoked. There’s something magical going on with these cigars that speaks to me at a very deep level. It goes beyond mirror satisfaction. It’s visceral. I love it!
