Curivari Seleccíon Privada Magnificos Maduro Needs Patience, Patience, Patience

I lived in Las Vegas from 1989 to 1990. I was twenty-seven and moved there because of a girl who then dumped me two weeks after I got there. But if I’m going to be honest with myself, looking back, I never really had a chance with her. She was hot. She knew it. And I was completely blinded by that. So, what did I do? I groveled. And I moved to Las Vegas where she lived in the hope of being with her.

Long story short, it didn’t work out. But I was there, so I made the best of it and being a fairly social guy, I made friends. One of my friends was a co-worker named Jeanie. She was super funny and sarcastic as hell. In one conversation, I told her that she need patience, and her reply to me was, “Look, if patience was a virtue, I’d be a slut!” I laughed hard at that quip and told her that I was going to steal it and use it!

It’s funny how words or smells or sounds can trigger memories. In this case the word was “patience” because that’s what came to mind as soon as I lit this stick up. I wrote a post on this back in May of 2025 after letting it sit for a month. And though I gave it an experience rating of 96, which I’ll stand by today, it’s even better now with nine months of rest. I’d say it’s more like a 98 or 99 now. And out of all the different Curivari lines I smoke, this one has needed the most time to get to an optimal smoking state.

Which is surprising to me because every other Curivari cigar I’ve smoked is ready to go in a week (though I still rest them for at least a month). But this cigar doesn’t show its true colors until months have passed.

From CigarPage.com:

Enter Curivari Seleccion Privada Maduro, a blend that’ll bring you back to the days when Cuban tobacco was actually worth something. These beauties are packed full of premium Nicaraguan long leaves and come wrapped with a bold, spicy, and rich Nicaraguan maduro wrapper. The result produces tons of complexity with hearty characters that combine for a medium to full-bodied kick, yet the blend still maintains an incredibly smooth, delicious finish that pairs perfectly with coffee, steak or your favorite scotch. In fact, the maduro leaf does present a note of sweetness which provides some relief and it expels an aroma that perfectly complements the entire experience.

All that is true as long as you can wait. And if you do, you’ll be rewarded with something that to me at least is otherworldly.
