Happy Thanksgiving!

I woke up this morning and put the bird on the smoker, poured myself a mug of coffee, then lit up a gorgeous Umbagog Bronzeback. As the caffeine and nicotine started to kick in, I thought about what things I’m thankful for and it brought some tears to my eyes.

Lately I’ve been super-frustrated with work. The business is going nowhere for a variety of reasons and frankly, I don’t know if we’ll survive through next quarter. Bummer. So, that has caused a bit of stress.

But when I sat down this morning to enjoy my cigar and coffee, I thought to myself, You know, even though I’m feeling so much frustration with my job, I have a lot of things to be thankful for… And when I thought about those things, I started tearing up because indeed, I have lots to be thankful for!

Most of my kids (I have eight) will be home for Thanksgiving, so it’s going to be a throng for Thanksgiving dinner. My two eldest boys will be here so we’ll herf it up. And because they’ll be here the entire weekend, I purchased some excellent rums and bourbons for us to partake over the course of a few days. For me, Thanksgiving is all about family. And speaking of which, one of my sons is going to be a daddy, which means I’m going to be a grandfather!

Yeah, lots to be thankful for! I wish the best to all on this blessed day!
