This is my very first Micallef. The brand has been on my to-try list for a while. And in smoking this, I should have tried them earlier. But better late than never. In any case, the following are notes I took while smoking it.
Construction: impeccable. Smooth wrapper with small veins. Solid stick with no soft spots.
Aroma: sourdough bread, graham cracker, barnyard, hay.
Profile: Savory up front, but has a nice lingering sweetness on the back end. Red and black pepper. Cream, malt, coffee with cream, floral notes. Flavors intensify as the cigar progresses with red pepper taking a predominant role.
Medium strength at best. Good smoke production. Even burn. Wavy at times, but corrects itself. No corrections. Love that.
Very refined cigar. Lots of subtle things going on in the background. But I wouldn’t call it complex nor a flavor bomb – yet. I think a couple of months of humi time have the potential to bring out qualities that are currently hidden.
Past the halfway point the stick loads up nicely. Strength moves up a skosh beyond medium but reaching medium+. Spicy meatball!
Stone fruit comes into play on the finish. Very pleasing. The final third is the sweet spot. Smoke is velvety smooth. Cream puff. Nice spicy bite. Roasted cashews, red pepper spice, vanilla, moss, earth. Medium+ in strength. No nicotine! Amazing.
Nice, slow roller. Burn has been so good. On the final third, the burn is razor straight. I will buy a box very soon. At $179 for a box of 25, it’s a steal. This is a $7 cigar that smokes like a stick that’s twice the price.
