I’ve had a few different CAO cigars in the past and I’ve enjoyed all of them. But the CAO Brazilia hits all the right notes for me. There are earthy and fruity notes I assume from the Brazilian wrapper, with nuts, coffee, and chocolate from the Nicaraguan filler and binder. Moreover, there are numerous, subtle notes that cycle in and out through the smoke such as toffee, graham cracker, tamarind, clove, nutmeg, and flan among others. There’s a lot going on with this smoke. It’s much more complex than what its humble pricing might suggest.

This is a strong, full-body cigar, producing loads of thick, luscious, and creamy smoke on every draw. Amazingly enough, the nicotine hit isn’t heavy – oh there’s nicotine, but not so much that I’m getting the spins.

Construction-wise, it’s a solid stick with no soft spots, but it’s not super-packed. I’ve had a bunch of these prior to writing this and I haven’t had any draw issues. The burn is always even. It can get a little wavy at times, but it self-corrects. The wrapper is moderately veiny, but it has a nice, oily sheen. The ash is flaky, no stack of dimes, but it holds together for over an inch.

And the best thing about this stick is that I can get it for around three bucks a stick! That’s amazing to me because a stick this complex is usually five times that! No complaints from me. I’m bidding on a bidding on a box right now. This is a stick that will join the Undercrown Maduro, Magic Toast, and Black Swan as a daily go-to.
