Since I had my first one, I’ve this cigar epitomizes what I consider to be the archetype for mild cigars. It is so pleasing to smoke; rich and thick smoke that’s packed with flavor but with a light, delicate touch. The experience is sublime. It pairs well with anything, but I love to smoke this without any accompaniment. It’s that good on its own!
With a Ecuadorian CT wrapper and USA CT binder, one would expect it to be spicy. There’s a little white pepper spice on the finish, but nothing at all pronounced. The profile is a kaleidoscope of flavors that shift throughout the smoke. Honey, honeysuckle, earthiness, nuts, hot chocolate, toast, malt, fresh-cut grass, sugar cane, cedar, burnt oak. Pepper didn’t come into play until the second half. There’s so much there!
Amazingly enough, there’s not much heft to the cigar when I pick it up, but it’s packed tight, forming a stack-of-dimes (considering the gauge, more like nickel) ash that holds on. The draw is amazingly light, with little resistance.
This cigar is a study in nuance. Like any ultra-premium, it’s a stick that forces the smoker to drop what they’re doing and contemplate its virtues, much like a stunningly beautiful woman with a soul-piercing gaze that walks into a crowded room. She doesn’t overtly ask you to stop what you’re doing. But her very presence beckons you to her beauty like a Siren song.
To be honest, it has been difficult to write this entry because I’ve had to just stop and contemplate the beauty of this cigar – often. Yes, this is one cigar that I’m always going to be on the lookout to buy on sale. I could see myself possessing several boxes of these, so I have a supply for the rest of my life.
