Christmas Gift from My Wife: Martinez Cigars New York City Blend Corona (6 X 44)

6 X 44 for a Corona? I know, right? But that’s what they call their Corona, so whatever. But amazingly enough, there is a difference between this and the Queens. The flavor profile is similar, but in this longer and slightly fatter vitola, the smoke is less intense. And that’s to be expected since there’s more influence from the binder and filler in larger ring gauges. Another thing I noticed is that the finish on this is a little spicier than the Queens and also lingers a lot more. With the Queens the spice is a lot more forward. I think I prefer that.

But hey! No complaints from me! These were a gift from my gorgeous wife who put them in a totally cool padded leather portable humidor!

Now THIS thing is the shit! Made by Scotte (prob. some random Chinese company but who cares), it holds seven Churchills which are held in place by leather straps. And comes with a cool wood veneer lighter! Very classy! TBH, this is NOT something I’d bring on a weekend trip as it’s not airtight. But for going to a lounge or a herf, it’s perfect!

My wife knows what makes me happy!

Known as "Goofydawg" for decades, a few years ago, I reinvented myself from the geeky image I used to portray to that of a patrician whose life has been refined from experience. And I realized that I'm at the time of my life where I want to share that experience and hopefully pass on some of the knowledge and wisdom I've gained over the years.
