Plasencia Reserva Original

Purchased: Box of 10 Robustos (4.7 X 52)
Store: Cigars International
Price: $78.99
Buy again: Yes

This cigar is a sleeper. It starts out all smooth and light like a Monte White Label with a subtle sophistication whose flavors of cinnamon, cedar, baking spice, nuts, and toast; things you might miss if you smoke it quickly, then gradually – and beautifully – transforms into a medium/full-bodied cigar that pours on the cocoa, espresso, and Irish Creme and hints of marzipan with a pleasantly long, cedar finish.

At close to eighty bucks for a box, you might think that it’s a bargain. It’s not. That’s for ten cigars. But priced at less than $8/stick, it’s still reasonably priced. It’s not an everyday smoke for me, not because of the price, but because it’s a cigar that I really want to take my time with. Even with the short Robusto which is only 4.7″ long, I always try to set aside at least an hour-and-a-half.

As for how I started smoking these, they were a recommendation from a good friend who’s a real aficionado and who also has the disposable income to smoke super- and ultra-premium cigars daily. Though I was already familiar with Oliva and buying them when I first started, when I asked for a recommendation, he immediately said to try Plasencia. So, I did.

The box of Reserva Original are the first full box I ever purchased. Once I’m done with the ten (I’ve got two left), I’ll probably replenish my supply or try another llne.
