When I started this blog, I had no plans for it to become a review or how-to site like my other blogs. It was for me to have a conversation with myself on the cigars I smoke. Cigars are like wine to me. Though there certainly are some brands and kinds of wines I like and gravitate towards, there’s so much to try that I only keep a few of my favorite wines on hand so I can discover other wines.
Such is the case with cigars. But since I’m new to smoking cigars as a hobby, I can’t say that I have a particular favorite yet except for the Oliva Serie O. I can’t see myself ever NOT having several on hand at least for the time being. But I have a feeling that will change, especially since I recently discovered Martinez in New York City. Fuckin’-A! That Queens is absolutely to die for, and I’m really excited to try the Don Antonio Escogido Maduro!
But back to the subject at hand…
I’m chuckling at the fact that I’m getting any traffic at all. Maybe it’s from subscribers to my other blogs, but who knows? To be honest, I don’t care where folks are coming from. But if you’re reading this, just know that I’m going freestyle here. I’m going to use profanity. I’m going to speak my mind. I’m doing this to document the cigars I smoke and though some posts may seem like reviews, they’re really not meant to be. I’m just putting down what my senses experience.
As for documenting flavors, I am by no means an expert. But I do have a well-developed palate from years of tasting wine, which I consider myself expert at after four-and-a-half decades of drinking wine and writing about wines. The point I’m making is that I’ve developed a tasting vocabulary that has translated well to cigars. So, when I talk about tasting or smelling various flavors or aromas, those descriptions have been informed by my long experience with wine.
Other than that, welcome! Please feel free to comment. I’m always open to good conversation!
