As with most of my bundles as of late, I got these on sale. They aren’t pretty to look at, but they sure taste incredible. And I’m thinking that if the seconds taste this good, the regular production smokes must be fabulous.
There’s really something to a Maduro wrapper. It has this deep cocoa flavor that is just so appealing. Looks like I’m going to have to start looking at getting more cigars with a Maduro wrapper.
And being new to the cigar afficionado world, I don’t why there’s so much hate for Rocky Patel smokes. Some people have expressed what seems to be a pure hatred of his cigars. But he’s a businessman who is trying to create products for people with different tastes. It’s like the traditional vs. modern music discussions. The “trads” hate us modern musicians (that might be a bit of a commentary on them as Christians… ahem…). It’s all emotional and completely nonsensical.
But I gotta tell ya… I’m loving these Vintage 2nds. I haven’t had one burn evenly yet, but I absolutely love the flavor of the smoke they produce! I’m probably going to have some of these in my humidor all the time. But as I mentioned, I’ll probably get the actual Vintage 1990s version in a larger vitola.
This is a fantastic medium-strength cigar with notes of cedar and nuts, with a hint of sweetness from the Maduro wrapper. It is such an enjoyable smoke!
