I’ve lately become a regular customer of Cigars International (no, I’m not an affiliate), and recently purchased one of their “El Gordo” packages, which includes five premium sticks and a torch/punch lighter, placed in a 5-count Herf-a-dor X5. The one I purchased was El Gordo #58: Alec Bradley Lineage + Herf-a-Dor (shown to the left). Originally, I wanted a 5-pack of the cigars, and but saw this package and realized that I didn’t have a particularly good travel humidor, and the one I’ve been using for golf only held three sticks (I like to share with my golf buddies).
So, I figured, what the heck! The Herf-a-Dor looks perfect for my needs. I wasn’t wrong. I played a round at Half Moon Bay Ocean Course today and loaded up my Herf-a-Dor with stogies. As for the golfing, I did okay, shooting an 82; not my best effort as I had a couple of awful holes that pushed my score up. After a particularly disastrous hole – a par-3 that i double bogeyed – I said, “It’s time for a cigar. I’m tensing up way to fuckin’ much!”
So, I reached into my golf bag, opened my Herf-a-Dor, and selected and lit up a gorgeous Plasencia Reserva Original Robusto. That immediately calmed me down and I started playing much more consistently over the front nine. I finished that stick and was ready for another by the 14th hole. This time, I took a little time to examine the Herf-a-Dor and then it struck me that for golf or small trips, this thing is perfect! It is very well constructed and the silicon seals ensure that your sticks are stored air-tight! I love this thing!
This weekend, I will be driving up north for a wedding, and you can be damn sure that I’ll be loading up my Herf-a-Dor!
